Georges Cameras has partnered with Azupay to deliver faster, more cost‑effective PayID payments across online channels

Georges Cameras, one of Australia’s most established and trusted camera retailers, has partnered with Australian payments provider Azupay to introduce PayID payments across its Shopify-powered online store, becoming Azupay’s first Shopify customer live. Georges Cameras also has plans to expand its PayID offering to in-store and invoice channels.

Founded in 1981 and still proudly family‑owned, Georges Cameras has grown from a single Sydney store into a leading multichannel retailer serving hobbyists, creatives, and professional photographers across Australia. The partnership with Azupay supports the company’s continued focus on innovation, customer experience, and operational excellence.

Reflecting on their long‑standing vision, the Georges Cameras team describes their mission simply: “Crafted for creators. Powered by knowledge. Since 1981.” Their adoption of PayID aligns with this philosophy, ensuring customers experience the same level of care and reliability online as they do in‑store.

As Georges Cameras continues to scale, particularly in e‑commerce, now representing nearly half of annual turnover, the business has been focused on improving payment efficiency, reducing operational friction, and enhancing the customer experience. Rising card processing fees and delayed settlement times had added pressure across fulfilment and inventory operations, prompting the team to explore more modern and cost‑effective payment alternatives.

A faster, simpler way to pay

By adopting Azupay’s real‑time PayID solution, Georges Cameras can now offer customers a secure, frictionless payment option that settles instantly. Unlike traditional card payments, PayID enables funds to move directly between bank accounts in real time, reducing reliance on card networks, improving cash flow visibility, helps lower merchant costs, and allows orders to be released for fulfilment immediately for customers shopping online.

The move reflects a broader shift occuring across Australian retail, as businesses look to modern account-to-account payment rails that offer greater control, speed and efficiency, particularly for high-value or time-sensitive purchases where delayed settlement can impact operations and ultimately customer experience.

For Georges Cameras, this means fewer payment delays, reduced manual handling, and a checkout experience that better meets customer expectations for immediacy and simplicity.

“The team continues to explore smarter, more cost‑effective payment solutions, and it’s exciting to partner with a business so focused on evolving with its customers.” – Robert Radley, Enterprise Sales & Partnerships Director at Azupay
